News Updates
News: .....New antenna installed....A new 20m/40m CCD antenna was just acquired at the Mesa, AZ Hamfest
and installed as an inverted vee with the apex @ 35 ft. Wow! Hearing signals in directions that were not
available previously....The CCD VSWR is flat across both 20 and 40m and well under 2:1 without a tuner
....I will be experimenting with leg angles and elevation of the apex, but so far its "work'em if I hear'em..The CCD is configured broadsided NE-SE and signals are strong into Ohio and Illinois on 40m. 3db plus gain over a half wave dipole claimed in specs.....www.CCDantennas.com for info.... More to come on this one! Always fun to try a new antenna and so far this one is a winner !.....
NOTE: The Scorpion SA-680 was taken down on 11/11 after a very sucessful testing period.
In its place will go a 2 element 5-band Cubex Quad. A small Rohn 25G tower will have to be installed.
more to follow on this project....

RadioWaves - ( source Wikipedia )
Radio waves are that part of the electromagnetic spectrum with wavelengths longer than infrared light. Naturally-occuring radio waves are produced by lightning, or by astronomical objects. Artificially-generated radio waves are used for broadcasting, mobile and fixed communications, navigation, computer networks and innumerable other applications. Different frequencies of radio waves have different propagation characteristics in the Earth's atmosphere; long waves may cover a part of the Earth very consistently, shorter waves can reflect off the ionosphere and travel around the world, and much shorter wavelengths bend or reflect very little and travel on a line of sight.
