get your paperwork returned...I was not radioactive for this visit, but will be better orgainzed next time.... Trip time spent sightseeing, boating, snorkeling, soaking up the Caribe sunshine, and lots of great food and spirits..Can't talk on the radio all the time ! HiHi !
July 17th-21st... Short scouting trip planned to the island of Jamaica, North shore at Mahoe Bay... We hope to be radio-active as 6Y5/KK7CQ if our opr permit is returned in time...

News: .......6/6/10...Scorpion HF mobile installation completed and have also added a KB6 6m loop antenna on top of the Jeep SUV. Loop is mounted 1/4 wave above the roof rack. An aux 12v Sears Platinum AGM battery has been added for main radio power while in the field. The battery carries a 4-year full replacement warranty, which is a great thing with the temperatures here in Arizona.
Plans include a solar panel for field charging.
Mobile radio is a Kenwood TS-480SAT.. See pictures in Album soon to be added..
News: .....New antenna construction.... Just finishing construction and tuning of a 3-element 6 meter Hex wire beam project. Lightweight and portable, I plan to utilize this antenna for portable field operations
to include a lil' grid square hoping. Antenna to be put up and air tested this week (May 10th).
Will add photos to album section soon. Gotta love the "Magic Band" ! Six meters is heating up..
The 40-20m CCD still performing very well..........
The CCD is configured broadsided NE-SE and signals are strong into Ohio and Illinois on 40m. 3db plus gain over a half wave dipole claimed in specs.....www.CCDantennas.com for info....
NOTE: The Scorpion SA-680 was taken down on 11/11 after a very sucessful testing period.
In its place will go a 2 element 5-band Cubex Quad. A small Rohn 25G tower will have to be installed.

RadioWaves - ( source Wikipedia )
Radio waves are that part of the electromagnetic spectrum with wavelengths longer than infrared light. Naturally-occuring radio waves are produced by lightning, or by astronomical objects. Artificially-generated radio waves are used for broadcasting, mobile and fixed communications, navigation, computer networks and innumerable other applications. Different frequencies of radio waves have different propagation characteristics in the Earth's atmosphere; long waves may cover a part of the Earth very consistently, shorter waves can reflect off the ionosphere and travel around the world, and much shorter wavelengths bend or reflect very little and travel on a line of sight.
